10/14/2025 Columbia slow-walks bargaining scheduling
Since Columbia failed to meet us at the bargaining table on October 6th, SWC’s Bargaining Committee has been in proactive communication with the administration to schedule another session.
We are eager to negotiate and deliver for the Columbia community, but the university administration is slow-walking the process. See below for the most recent email exchanges between SWC and the Columbia administration.
SWC Bargaining Committee wrote on Wednesday, Oct 8 at 8:01 AM:
Dear Linda,
Please let us know as soon as possible what dates and times Sockman Lounge and the Chapel in Interchurch Center are available for bargaining. We continue to eagerly look forward to bargaining a successor contract.
Sincerely,
SWC Bargaining Committee
Columbia administration replied at the end of the work day on Thursday, Oct 9 at 4:23 PM:
Good afternoon,
We are currently checking space availability and will follow up early next week.

SWC Bargaining Committee followed up on Monday, October 13 at 8:43 PM:
Dear Idina,
We are following up with regard to the availability of the larger spaces at Interchurch. We look forward to hearing from you soon so that we can schedule future bargaining sessions.
Sincerely,
SWC Bargaining Committee
SWC remains ready and eager to discuss protections for international student workers, workplace health and safety, and more efficient processes for handling the university’s contract violations. Our articles on these topics have been in the university’s possession since last Monday, October 6.
We hope that Columbia’s administration can show its committment by promptly scheduling the next bargaining meeting and attending at the agreed-upon time.
